There are many reasons people consider a clinical study.
Some want to learn about a possible new treatment option. Others want closer study-related follow-up, or want to help future patients by contributing to research. Only you can decide whether taking part is right for you.
Why people take part in clinical studies.
- 01
A possible new treatment option 1
The UPSTREAM MG study is evaluating an investigational medicine called telitacicept in adults with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG). Telitacicept targets certain parts of the immune system involved in antibody production. It is being studied to learn more about its safety and effectiveness for adults living with gMG.
Telitacicept is investigational and has not been approved by the FDA for gMG.
- 02
Close medical care and follow-up 1,2
If you qualify and take part, you may receive close medical care and study-related follow-up throughout your time in the study. The exact visit schedule will be explained by the study team, but you can expect regular visits during screening and treatment, with possible home injections between some on-site visits.
- 03
Contributing to research 2
Clinical studies rely on people who are willing to take part. By joining, participants help researchers learn more about potential new treatments for gMG—knowledge that may help others living with gMG in the future.
You decide, at every step.
Joining a clinical trial is voluntary. Deciding not to take part will not affect your usual medical care now or in the future. Clinical studies are reviewed and overseen by independent ethics committees to help protect participant safety.
All medicines and clinical studies have possible risks, including side effects. The study team will review the known and potential risks and benefits with you before you decide whether to join.

“While we now have several biologic therapies for MG, I'm excited to explore an investigational product that may present a more upstream treatment of gMG.”
